While in Paris, students will read aloud together significant pieces of prose, poetry, travel writing, and political documents. Each of the readings will be discussed in a location appropriate to it. For example, Victor Hugo’s description of Notre Dame from Notre Dame de Paris (AKA The Hunchback of Notre Dame) will be read in the garden behind Notre Dame—a shady pleasant place with a view of the extraordinary flying buttresses around the nave.
